Multi-Divisional National Duals come to Des Moines

Previewing the 2014 NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals

Jan. 11-12 • Iowa Events Center • Des Moines, Iowa

For the third straight year, the National Wrestling Coaches Association is sponsoring a National Duals championship — under one roof at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines — for 76 different schools in five different divisions other than NCAA Division I.

The first two Multi-Divisional National Duals were held in Springfield, Ill., the past two winters. Prior to that, these teams competed in a similar format, which also included Division I programs, at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

In 2012, the NWCA also returned to sponsoring a Division I National Duals, which grew out of the Virginia Duals in 1989, which were held in Stillwater, Okla., and Minneapolis, Minn., the past two winters. This year’s Division I National Duals will be held Feb. 16-17 in Columbus, Ohio.

Schedule for Jan. 11

• Preliminary Duals — 9 & 11 a.m.

• Quarterfinal & Consolation Duals — 1 and 3 p.m.

• Consolation Duals — 5 & 7 p.m.

Schedule for Jan. 12

• Consolation Duals — 9 a.m.

• Semifinal Duals — 11 a.m.

• 5^th and 7^th Place Duals — 1 p.m.

• Championship & 3^rd Place Duals — 3 p.m.
