Bo Bassett will declare his long-awaited college decision on Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, live on FloWrestling just after Bishop McCort completes its dual meet against the winner of Corry/McGuffey in the PIAA AA State Team Championship round of 16 matchup.
A junior, Bassett is already a three-time Ironman champ, three-time Super 32 champ and represented Team USA at the U20 World Championships in September, where he earned a bronze medal at 65 kg. He has compiled a scholastic career record of 110-0 with 69 tech falls and 30 falls, as only six of his scholastic matches have gone the full six minutes.
“Obviously, NIL is a piece of it, but I am more focused on the wrestling,” Bassett stated on FloWrestling Radio Live on Monday morning while narrowing his list down to four schools: Penn State, Oklahoma State, Iowa and Virginia Tech.
“I want to achieve all my goals,” he continued. “All the offers have been very comparable, and so that is a point where I am valuing more so what the program can give me and where I want to be with my goals and my dreams.”
Bo’s father and coach, Bill Bassett, who leads the nation’s second-ranked Bishop McCort Crushers, expressed his excitement for Bo’s pending announcement.
“Bo is so happy and pumped; he loved every second of the process. He loves wrestling so much, and this is a day he has been looking forward to since he was a little boy. If Bo could, he would join every program; he has so many close ties and relationships with wrestlers and coaches in a lot of programs. He knows when he finally commits, only one fan base will be happy.”
WIN will update this story once Bassett makes his highly anticipated announcement this evening.
