Second-Round Notes
• No. 4 Cohlton Schultz (Arizona State) and No. 13 Yaraslau Slavikouski (Rutgers) had a tight 2-1 third period match going after a Salvikouski escape to start the period. Schultz held off the game Scarlet Knight for the one-point victory.
• After two scoreless periods, No. 6 Zach Elam (Missouri) escapes in the third period and scored a takedown late in the third to secure a 4-0 win over No. 11 Josh Heindselman (Oklahoma).
First-Round Notes
Iowa’s No. 25 seeded Bradley Hill scored the match’s only takedown with 1:22 left in bout to give him the upset win over NC State’s No. 8 seed Owen Trephan.
Air Force’s Wyatt Hendrickson, the No. 3 seed and returning All-American got a big scare from Maryland’s No. 30 seed Seth Nevills before prevailing 11-8. The Terp led 7-6 in the first period after both wrestlers swapped takedowns and nearfall situations. Hendrickson still trailed 8-6 going into the third period before scoring a takedown with 1:23 left and added a riding time point.
