Quarterfinal Highlights

  • #1 Gable Steveson (Minnesota) dec. #9 Greg Kerkvliet (Penn State), 9-4  — In this battle between a pair of former state of Minnesota preps, Steveson (Apple Valley) scored two of his three takedowns in the final period and added another point for riding time. Kerkvliet (Simley) did score a takedown with 19 seconds left to cut the margin to 7-4.
  • #5 Anthony Cassioppi (Iowa) dec. #4 Cohlton Schultz (Arizona State), 4-1 — The Hawkeye scored the bout’s only takedown with 1:02 left and then rode out the Sun Devil the rest of the way for a riding time point and his first All-American honor.
  • #6 Gannon Gremmel (Iowa State) dec. #14 Trent Hillger (Wisconsin), 2-1 tb — The Cyclone earned his first trip to the semifinals  when he scored an escape in his phase of the tiebreakers after riding the Badger 30 seconds in the first phase.
  • #2 Mason Parris (Michigan) major dec., #7 Ethan Laird (Rider), 14-4 — The Wolverine scored six takedowns — two in each period — for the dominating victory and his third straight bonus point victory.
