USA at the 2019 UWW World Championships

Competing Sept. 17-18

Women’s freestyle wrestling will take place on the fourth and fifth of the 2019 UWW World Championships, which will be held Sept. 14-22 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The following is a closer look at three Americans, who hope to compete over two days.

Each weight will take place on two days; matches through semifinals on day 1, beginning at 1 a.m. EDT, and placement matches on day 2, repechage bouts beginning at 1 a.m. EDT and placement matches at 10 a.m. EDT.  All matches can be found at Trackwrestling.com.

Whitney Conder

Bio:Age 31 (born May 6, 1988); native of Puyallup, Wash.; resident of Colorado Springs, Colo.;  U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program; attended Northern Michigan RTC

International Experience:Competed in three Senior Worlds; overall record 3-4; ninth in 2014 (2-2), dnp in 2015 (1-1), dnp in 2018 (0-1); also competed in 2007 Junior Worlds (gold medalist).

2019 Final X: defeated Victoria Anthony (Sunkist Kids) in best-of-three matches, 7-4, pin, at Rutgers.

Projected Top 4 Seeds by UWW:1. Oksana Livach (Ukraine), ’18 World bronze; 2. Seema Seema (India), 19 Yasar Dogu gold; 3. Yanan Sun (China), ’18 World bronze; 4. Evin Demirhan (Turkey), ’17 World bronze.

Sarah Hildebrandt

Bio:Age 25 (born Sept. 23, 1993); native of Granger, Ill.; resident of Colorado Springs, Colo.; New York AC/OTC; 2-time WCWA champ from King U. in 2014 and ’15.

International Experience: defending World silver medalist competed in two Senior Worlds; overall record 3-3 with one medal; did not place in 2016 (0-2); also competed in two Junior Worlds, dnp in 2012 and 10th in 2013; 2013 World Univ. Games (8th).

2019 Final X: defeated Katherine Shai (Titan Mercury WC) in best-of-three matches, 3-0, 8-0, in Lincoln, Neb.

Projected Top 4 Seeds by UWW:1. Sarah Hildebrandt (United States); 2. Qianyu Pang (China), ’18 World bronze; 3. Diana Weicker (Canada), ’18 World bronze; 4. Luisa Melendres (Ecuador), ’18 World 7th.

International Experience: competed in one Senior Worlds; finished fifth in 2018 (2-2 record)

2019 Final X:defeated Dominique Parrish (Titan Mercury WC) in best-of-three matches, 10-0, 8-3, in Lincoln, Neb.

International Experience: competed in one Senior Worlds; did not place in 2017 (0-1); also competed in 2014 Junior Worlds (bronze).

2019 Final X: defeated Alyvia Fiske (Titan Mercury WC) best-of-three matches, 7-2, fall, at Rutgers.

Projected Top 4 Seeds at UWW:1. Nasanburmaa Ochirbat (Mongolia), ’13 and ’14 World bronze; 2. Zhamila Bakbergenova (Kazakhstan), ’18 U23 World bronze; 3. Juan Wang (China), ’16 Olympian; 4. Alina Stadnik Makhynia (Ukraine), ’16 Olympian.
