Photos: Michigan’s Myles Amine (left), a four-time All-American and 2020 Olympic bronze medalist, is ranked No. 3 at 184 pounds after competing at 197 last season. He is expected to meet Penn State’s Aaron Brooks — one of four returning national champs for the Lions — this Friday when the Wolverines host top-ranked Penn State this Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

NEWTON, Iowa — The 2022 NCAA Division I Championships are two months away, but many of the sport’s top teams will learn a lot more of where they stand in their preparation for the Nationals in March over the next two weeks when several top teams face each other.

Based on the current Jan. 17 Tournament Power Index and Dual/Individual Rankings, presented by Cliff Keen, top-ranked Penn State will test its mettle this Friday when the Nittany Lions travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., and take on Michigan, rated No. 5 in WIN Dual Rankings and third in the TPI.

Among the most notable of Top-10 meetings between Penn State and Michigan include PSU’s No. 1 Nick Lee vs. UM’s No. 10 Stevan Micic at 141; PSU’s No. 1 Carter Starocci vs. UM’s No. 5 Logan Massa at 174; PSU’s No. 1 Aaron Brooks vs. UM’s No. 3 Myles Amine at 184; PSU’s No. 3 Max Dean vs. UM’s No. 6 Pat Brucki and PSU’s No. 4 Greg Kerkvliet vs. UM’s No. 2 Mason Parris at Hwt.

Meanwhile, second-ranked Iowa, which hosts Penn State on Jan. 28, will travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend to face No. 10 Ohio State, while No. 4 NC State will host No. 9 Virginia Tech in an ACC battle this Friday in Raleigh, N.C.

The following are WIN Magazine’s Tournament Power Index, Dual and Individual Rankings through Jan. 16 matches.

WIN’s Tournament Power Index predicts approximately how many NCAA points a team could score in Detroit in March at the Division I Championships based on where their individuals are ranked at this point in the season. Excluding bonus points, the TPI is based on numbers associated with individual placements/rankings based on our current rankings below: 20 points for 1st, 16 for 2nd, 13.5 for 3rd, 12.5 for 4th, 10 for 5th, 9 for 6th, 6.5 for 7th and 5.5 for 8th. Wrestlers ranked 9-12 earn two points each, followed by 1.5 points for wrestlers ranked 13-16 and 1 point for those ranked 17-20.
