#1 Thomas Gilman (Iowa) pinned #8 Nick Piccininni (Oklahoma State), 6:04 — The Hawkeye had just scored his third takedown to take a 9-4 lead before catching the Cowboy on his back and scored his first pin of the NCAAs. Piccininni caught the Hawkeye in 2-point tilt to start the second period and tied the bout 2-2 before Gilman scored a takedown and two-point nearfall with three seconds left in the second period.

#4 Darian Cruz (Lehigh) dec. #12 Sean Fausz (NC State) 5-2 — The Mountain Hawk scored a first-period takedown, second-period reversal and built up a 2:11 riding time advantage over the Wolfpack wrestler.

#6 Ethan Lizak (Minnesota) won by TF over #14 Freddie Rodriguez (SIU-Edwardsville) 15-0 — The Gopher led just 5-0 on a pair of takedowns at the end of the second period when he twice put Rodriguez on his back in the final two minutes.

#10 Jack Mueller (Virginia) dec. #2 Joey Dance (Va Tech), 4-2 sv — In a battle of Commonwealth state foes, the Cavalier forced overtime when he scored a reversal with 13 seconds left in regulation, then earned the upset on a takedown off a snapdown with 20 ticks left in overtime.

#1 Nathan Tomasello (Ohio State) dec. #8 Zane Richards (Illinois), 3-1 — The top-ranked Buckeye scored the bout’s only takedown on a double with 38 seconds left.

#4 Cory Clark (Iowa) dec. #5 Stevan Micic (Michigan) 6-4 — The Hawkeye gave up a quick takedown, but then reversed the Wolverine and built up 1:56 of his eventual 3:16 riding time advantage in the first period. Clark added a takedown in the second period to lead 5-2 before Micic added two escapes.

#3 Kaid Brock (Oklahoma State) dec. #11 Bryan Lantry (Buffalo), 7-3 — The young Cowboy scored two of his takedowns in the first period, the second coming with seven seconds left in the first frame.

#2 Seth Gross (South Dakota State) major dec. #7 Eric Montoya (Nebraska) 11-0 — The Jackrabbit put the Husker on his back three times, including the first period when Gross took Montoya to his back and 6-0 lead. Gross also added a 3:28 riding time advantage.

#1 Dean Heil (Oklahoma State) dec. #8 Jaydin Eiermann (Missouri), 6-5 — A 1:13 riding time advantage by the defending national champion sent the Cowboy to the semifinals after the Tiger battled back from a 4-1 deficit with three escapes and a takedown as the match ended. Heil scored both of his takedowns in the first 1:30 of the match.

#5 Anthony Ashnault (Rutgers) dec. #4 Matt Kolodzik (Princeton), 6-2 — The Scarlet Knight clinched the match on a takedown with 1:30 left and added a 2:25 riding time advantage. After a scoreless first period, Ashnault put the first points on the board when he caught the Tiger in a two-point tilt early in the second frame.

#6 George DiCamillo (Virginia) dec. #14 Thomas Thorn (Minnesota), 5-2 — The Cavalier earned his point off a first-period takedown, stalling call against the Gopher, an escape and a 2:26 riding time advantage,

#10 Bryce Meredith (Wyoming) dec. #2 Kevin Jack (NC State), 6-5 — In a battle of former NC State teammates, the defending national runner-up — who transferred back to his homestate school two years ago — scored a takedown with 35 seconds left to take a 6-3 lead before giving up a reversal to Jack. Meredith scored his first two points in the second period when he caught the Wolfpack junior in cradle.

#1 Zain Retherford (Penn State) won by TF over UNSEEDED Alex Kocer (South Dakota State), 19-2 (5:14) — The Nittany Lion ended the bout with with his fourth takedown, but eight of his points came at the end of the second period when Retherford caught Kocer in a pair of four-point nearfalls.

#5 Brandon Sorensen (Iowa) dec. #4 Micah Jordan (Ohio State), 3-0 — After a scoreless first period, Jordan chose neutral in the second period where the Hawkeye scored the bout’s only takedown on a low double with 48 seconds left.

#3 Lavion Mayes (Missouri) dec. #6 Solomon Chishko (Va Tech), 4-2 — A double-leg takedown midway in the third period gave the Tiger a 3-0 lead before holding off the Hokie’s late charge. Mayes also built up a 2:44 riding time advantage.

#7 Max Thomsen (Northern Iowa) dec. #15 Ken Theobold (Rutgers), 5-1 — The Panther scored the first points in the second period when he caught Theobold in a two-point tilt, then added a third-period takedown for a 2:10 riding time advantage.

#1 Jason Nolf (Penn State) pinned UNSEEDED B.J. Clagon (Rider), 4:07 — The Nittany Lion had just put the Bronco on his back for a four-point nearfall and 8-0 lead when he returned Clagon to his back and eventual fall. Nolf also scored two first-period takedowns to lead 4-1.

#4 Tyler Berger (Nebraska) dec. #5 Joseph Smith (Oklahoma State) 3-1 sv — The Husker scored the bout’s only takedown 12 seconds into the first overtime period.

#3 Joey Lavallee (Missouri) dec. UNSEEDED Paul Fox (Stanford), 6-2 — The Tiger, who scored pins his first two matches, settled for a decision when Lavallee scored takedowns in the first and third periods.

#7 Dylan Palacio (Cornell) pinned #2 Michael Kemerer (Iowa), 3:28 — Shortly after the Big Red wrestler was warned for stalling, he reversed the Hawkeye to his back with a “Peterson Roll” and scored a stunning fall over the No. 2 seed.

#1 Isaiah Martinez (Illinois) dec. #9 Chandler Rogers (Oklahoma State), 10-5 — Leading just 2-1 after one period, the two-time defending champ opened up the second frame with a four-point nearfall when he snatched Rogers back to his back after the Cowboy sat out. Rogers did fight back to score a takedown with 50 seconds left.

#4 Isaac Jordan (Wisconsin) dec. #5 Chad Walsh (Rider), 7-3 — The Badger scored two of his three takedowns in the first period, then added a third in the final frame that gave Jordan a 2:03 riding time advantage.

#3 Vincenzo Joseph (Penn State) dec. #6 Daniel Lewis (Missouri), 6-5 — Down 4-2 after Lewis scored a second-period escape, the Nittany Lion battled back with two third-period takedowns; the final one coming off an inside single with nine seconds left.

#2 Logan Massa (Michigan) dec. #7 Anthony Valencia (Arizona State) 9-0 — In a battle between freshmen, the Wolverine built up over five minutes of riding time advantage after scoring a takedown in both the first and second periods.

#1 Zahid Valencia (Arizona State) dec. #9 Myles Amine (Michigan), 14-8 — The Sun Devil freshman scored five takedowns — two each in the first and second periods — before earning a penalty point and a final point for his 2:25 riding time advantage.

#5 Mark Hall (Penn State) major dec. #4 Zac Epperly (Va Tech), 10-2 — The true freshman from Penn State dominated the first period with a takedown and twice putting the Hokie on his back for an 8-0 lead. Hall gave up a third-period takedown but also enjoyed a 2:23 riding time advantage.

#3 Bo Jordan (Ohio State) dec. #11 Alex Meyer (Iowa), 4-3 — The Buckeye scored the bout-determining takedown with 22 seconds left, then rode out the Hawkeye for the come-from-behind victory. Each wrestler scored reversals in the first two periods of a bout that was tied 2-2 with 1:41 left in the match.

#2 Brian Realbuto (Cornell) pinned #10 Zac Brunson (Illinois), 1:12 — Realbuto added a second pin by the Big Red in the quarterfinals when he took the Illini to his back with two minutes left in the first period before adding the fall.

#1 Gabe Dean (Cornell) dec. #8 Jack Dechow (Old Dominion), 4-3 tb — Not even a video review could overturn this victory that saw the Big Red two-time national champ literally hold on when he rode out Dechow his entire tiebreaker phase. Dean scored the bout’s only takedown before the Monarch quickly scored a reversal. Both men added escapes in the second and third period to force overtime, when Dean scored an escape in the first tiebreaker phase.

#4 Nolan Boyd (Oklahoma State) dec. #12 Drew Foster (Northern Iowa), 11-7 — The Cowboy jumped out to a 6-0 lead when he took the Panther down and added a four-point nearfall with one minute left in the first period, then held on as Foster battled back to pull within 6-4 on a reversal and two-point nearfall in the second period. Both men exchanged later takedowns and added a 1:23 riding time advantage.

#3 Sammy Brooks (Iowa) pinned #11 Emery Parker (Illinois), 6:01 — Trailing 2-1, the Hawkeye was riding the Illini when a scramble ensued that surprisingly put Parker on his back and eventual fall. Parker scored the bout’s only takedown in the first period and he also enjoyed a riding time advantage that was erased by Brooks in the third.

#2 Bo Nickal (Penn State) pinned #7 T.J. Dudley (Nebraska) 4:33 — Leading 4-2 heading into the second period, the two wrestlers exchanged reversals before the Nittany Lion caught the Husker in cradle for the eventual pin.

#1 J’den Cox (Missouri) major dec. #8 Ryan Wolfe (Rider), 10-1 — Cox only led 2-0 after one period — when he scored on a power double with 14 seconds left in the frame — but then added two more takedowns and benefitted from two penalty points over his Bronco foe. The final point came off a 1:42 riding time advantage.

#4 Jared Haught (Va Tech) dec. #5 Matt McCutcheon (Penn State), 7-3 — The Hokie scored two of his three takedowns in the final 1:31 of the first period..

#3 Kollin Moore (Ohio State) major dec. #6 Preston Weigel (Oklahoma State), 13-5 — A fourth takedown by the Buckeye freshman in the closing seconds provided the team bonus point for Ohio State. Moore led 6-1 in the first period off two takedowns and a two-point nearfall.

#2 Brett Pfarr (Minnesota) dec. #10 Kevin Beazley (Old Dominion), 6-0 — The Gopher scored takedowns in the first and third periods and added a 4:39 riding time advantage.

Heavyweight

#1 Kyle Snyder (Ohio State) dec. #8 Michael Kroells (Minnesota), 13-7 — The defending champion dominated the first two periods with six takedowns to lead 13-5 before he shut it down in the third frame when the Gopher rode out Snyder and also earned a stalling point in the closing seconds.

#4 Jacob Kasper (Duke) dec. #5 Nick Nevills (Penn State), 3-1 — Despite being 40 pounds lighter than his Penn State foe, Kasper became just the third different Blue Devil to earn All-American honors when he scored the bout’s only takedown on a power double in the second frame.

#3 Ty Walz (Va Tech) major dec. UNSEEDED Conan Jennings (Northwestern), 15-4 — The Hokie built up over three minutes of riding time advantage against the unheralded Wildcat; scoring his final two takedowns off a double leg and ankle pick in the final minute.

#2 Connor Medbery (Wisconsin) dec. #7 Tanner Hall (Arizona State), 5-3 — The Badger scored both of his takedowns in the second period against the Sun Devil, who scored off three escapes.
