WIN’s Nov. 10 Rankings feature No. 1 Oklahoma State vs. No. 2 Iowa

Updated: November 10, 2015

NEWTON, Iowa — It will be a battle between the No. 1 and No. 2 NCAA Division I college programs — according to today’s WIN Tournament Power Index (TPI) and individual rankings — when top-ranked Oklahoma State visits second-rated Iowa this Saturday, Nov. 14, in the historic dual meet that will be held outside for the first time in Kinnick Stadium.

Over 31,000 tickets have been sold for the event that will start at 11 a.m. (CST) in the Iowa football stadium. Of the 20 probable wrestlers competing on the mat, 14 are ranked in today’s WIN rankings and each school has six wrestlers ranked in the top eight of their weight classes, which would also earn them All-American honors at the end of the year.

The following is a list of those ranked wrestlers per school:

125 — No. 7 Eddie Klimara (OSU) vs. No. 3 Thomas Gilman (Iowa)

133 — No. 20 Gary Wayne Harding (OSU) vs. No. 2 Cory Clark (Iowa)

141 — No. 1 Dean Heil (OSU)

149 — No. 6 Anthony Collica (OSU) vs. No. 2 Brandon Sorensen (Iowa)

165 — No. 1 Alex Dieringer (OSU)

174 — No. 2 Kyle Crutchmer (OSU) vs. No. 8 Alex Meyer (Iowa)

184 — No. 14 Jordan Rogers (OSU) vs. No. 8 Sam Brooks (Iowa)

197 — No. 4 Nathan Burak (Iowa)

Hwt — No. 4 Austin Marsden (OSU)

Those rankings have led to Oklahoma State leading Division I programs with an 86.5 Tournament Power Index, while Iowa ranks second with a 69 TPI.

Meanwhile, Penn State is ranked No. 3 in WIN’s TPI with 66 points and four wrestlers ranked in the Top 8, followed by Virginia Tech (5 / 62.5), Missouri (5 / 59), Michigan (5/58), Wisconsin (3/50.5), Cornell (3/47.5), Illinois (3/44) and Nebraska (5/43.5).

Overall, there are 32 wrestlers who are appearing for the first time in WIN’s 2015-16 rankings, which were first announced in September. WIN will now update its individual rankings and TPI every Monday — expect Dec. 28 — until the start of the 2016 NCAA Championships, which take place in New York City, March 17-19.

WIN’s team TPI point totals are based on how many points a wrestler would receive at the NCAAs based on their current individual ranking: 1st – 20 (16 AA points + 4 advancement points); 2nd – 16 (12+4); 3rd – 13.5 (10+3.5); 4th – 12.5 (9+3.5); 5th – 10 (7+3); 6th – 9 (6+3); 7th – 6.5 (4+2.5); 8th – 5.5 (3+2.5); 9th/12th – 2; 13th/16th – 1.5; 17th-20th – 1. TPI points will be lower than the final actual NCAA tournament points because it does not include bonus points.

WIN will announce its first team dual rankings on Monday, November 30.
