NEWTON, Iowa — The undefeated Missouri Tigers set a school record by recording a 20th dual-meet victory last weekend and have also pulled closer to top-ranked Iowa in the Feb. 9 WIN Rankings, presented by Cliff Keen Athletic.

Iowa, which defeated Penn State, 18-12, before 15,967 fans in State College, Pa., last Sunday to clinch a share of the Big Ten dual championship, tops WIN’s dual-team rankings with a 13-0 mark and also leads the field in WIN’s Tournament Power Index with 81.5 points.

Missouri, which clinched a Mid-American Conference regular-season championship after defeating Eastern Michigan, 31-7, on Sunday, moved up to No. 2 in both WIN’s dual rankings and TPI with 79 points.

WIN’s TPI is based on where a school is projected to finish in this March’s NCAA Division I Championships in St. Louis, based on schools’ currently ranked individuals and not on a school’s dual-meet record.

Based on current projections, Iowa is predicted to claim eight All-American honors at this year’s NCAAs. Meanwhile, Missouri is projected to see five Tigers claim a Top-8 spot, including two wrestlers — 149-pound Drake Houdashelt and 197-pound J’den Cox — who ranked No. 1 in the current individual rankings.

Point totals are broken down by the following projected placements: 1st – 20 (16 AA points + 4 advancement points); 2nd – 16 (12+4); 3rd – 13.5 (10+3.5); 4th – 12.5 (9+3.5); 5th – 10 (7+3); 6th – 9 (6+3); 7th – 6.5 (4+2.5); 8th – 5.5 (3+2.5); 9th/12th – 2; 13th/16th – 1.5; 17th-20th – 1. TPI points will be lower than the final NCAA tournament points because it does not include bonus points.

Minnesota, which lost 22-13 at Ohio State last Friday, has dropped to No. 4 behind the Buckeyes in the dual rankings, but is No. 3 in the TPI with 78.5 points. The Buckeyes rank fourth with 65.5 points, followed by Illinois (57), Cornell (56.5) and Virginia Tech (55.5). Despite losing at home to Iowa, the Nittany Lions have moved up from No. 11 to No. 8 in WIN’s TPI, especially after both Jimmy Gulibon and Matt Brown earned victories over higher-ranked foes Cory Clark and Mike Evans.

WIN’s next updated TPI Rankings, Dual and Individual rankings will be announced on Monday, Feb. 16.
