NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Monarchs wrestling team visits the Kent State Golden Flashes on Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:05 p.m. in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

The Monarchs head into Monday’s dual with a 2-4 (0-1 MAC) dual meet season record. Last Friday, ODU hosted Eastern Michigan for their MAC Opener and led EMU by one heading into the final match of the night. EMU was able to escape with the dual meet victory and ODU is looking to pick up their first MAC win in Ohio after they complete the Cleveland State Open this Saturday.

Sophomore Domination

Redshirt sophomore Chris Mecate enters this weekend 9-3 on the year. Friday against EMU he picked up a pin in just 2:44 of action. Sophomore Alexander Richardson did him one better on Friday picking up a pin victory against Matt VanCuren in 1 minute 29 seconds. Richardson is 8-3 on the season and 5-1 in duals.

Warner, Curling Lead the Way

Tristan Warner continues to pick up victories for Old Dominion. Warner defeated EMU’s Brandon Zeerip 9-2 by a decision Friday and has won six of his last seven matches he has competed in.

Billy Curling scored his first major decision on the year after defeating Mike Curby last Friday. Curling, a 2013 NCAA Qualifier, continues to help ODU as he put up 12 points in Friday’s dual against EMU.
