Training Technique of the Week: Power Endurance

Power endurance for wrestlers is very important.  At Cincinnati Functional Fitness, during the power-endurance phase, we have our wrestlers perform a heavy traditional exercise then go directly into a power movement.

This forces the body to act explosively in a fatigued state.  We want our wrestlers to be able to generate power when fatigued. This trains our wrestlers to outlast their opponent in the third period and overtime. Wrestlers need to express power when they’re tired.

Below, wrestler Tyler Hardtke performs an Incline Bench Press for a heavy five repetitions. Tyler will follow it up with explosive crossover push-ups on a medicine ball for five repetitions per side.
